Step 1 – A free consult
For self-referred clients, a first step is a free 20 minute consult. This is an opportunity for us to connect and see if we are a good fit; to see if I can provide you with what you need at this point in your journey, or whether I can support you to find other resources or counsellors. We can talk by phone, Skype, Facetime, or face to face in my office in the west end of Toronto.
Step 2 – Individual, Couples, Coaching and Workshops
Individual Psychotherapy sessions provide you with a full hour dedicated to you. Each session is $130 (plus tax if you are in Canada). If you would like more time we can schedule that. Each additional 20 minutes is $35.
Couples Counselling provides you with an hour and a quarter dedicated to your relationship. Each session is $150 (plus tax if you are in Canada). Additional time can be easily scheduled in advance at $35 (plus tax) for each 20 minutes.
Career Counselling comes in different formats:
Clarity session: This is a good fit for you if you have some ideas already about the changes you want, and need someone to give you feedback and ask some direct questions to help you work out your next steps, and to increase motivation. The fee is a $130 (plus tax if you are in Canada) for each hour, and $35 (plus tax) for each additional 20 minutes if you would like more time added to the session.
Finding Focus sessions are a series of 4 1/2 hours of phone, Skype or face to face time that can be used in increments over a 6 month period. If you are in exploring mode this offers you: Accountability, through regular weekly email check-ins; Direction and focus, through activities and brainstorming; and an Ally in your corner to encourage and support your movement forward. The fee is a total of $600 (plus tax).
Workshop prices vary, and prices will be listed alongside the information on the Workshops page
Making payments and Insurance coverage
As a private practitioner, I request that fees are paid in full by the end of each session by cash or cheque. A receipt will be provided. E-transfer and paypal are also payment options which I appreciate you paying prior to the session.
Psychotherapy is not covered by OHIP (in Ontario, Canada). Some insurance companies may cover part or all of the counselling fee, many do not. You will have to check with your insurance company and provide them with my designation (Registered Psychotherapist and Canadian Certified Counsellor with an MEd, Counselling) and my Professional Associations (College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, and Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association).
I am a provider for a few Employment Assistance Programmes (EAPs) which may provide short-term, limited, free counselling for you, your partner or children. If you do not know whether you have access to EAP, your HR department can let you know and provide you with the contact information for the EAP. If they are listed, you can request to be referred to a particular counsellor.
