Fees and Forms

Step 1 – A free consult

For self-referred clients, a first step is a free 20 minute consult.  This is an opportunity for us to connect and see if we are a good fit; to see if I can provide you with what you need at this point in your journey, or whether I can support you to find other resources or counsellors. We can talk by phone, Skype, Facetime, or face to face in my office in the west end of Toronto.

Step 2 – Individual, Couples, Coaching and Workshops

Individual Psychotherapy sessions provide you with a full hour dedicated to you.  Each hour long session is $140 (plus tax if you are in Canada).

Diving Deep provides you with an opportunity for deeper conversation.  The 2 1/4 hours provides an hour of deep discussion followed by a 15 minute break and an hour of either conversation exploring next steps, or giving time for mindfulness or visualization, or creative activities including journalling.  Or a combination.  A questionnaire will be sent to you before the session to help you identify the main areas you wish to focus on.  We will work with a solution-focused model of counselling.  The fee is $280 (plus tax).

Couples Counselling provides you with an hour dedicated to your relationship.  Each session is $150 (plus tax if you are in Canada).

In addition, I have recently added 2 1/4 hour sessions, which allow us to go deeper, to have a break in the middle, and either additional discussion, or focused activities in the second hour.  These sessions are $300 (plus tax if you are in Canada).  These are often useful when you have already attended some hour long sessions.

Career Counselling comes in different formats:

Clarity session:  This is a good fit for you if you have some ideas already about the changes you want, and need someone to give you feedback and ask some direct questions to help you work out your next steps, and to increase motivation. The fee is a $140 (plus tax if you are in Canada) for each hour.

In-depth session:  If you are struggling with finding time outside of sessions for reflection and activities to help you focus, this 2 1/4 hour session may work well for you.  The first hour of the session is dedicated to discussion, then after a 15 minute break we dedicate another hour to focusing on career activities allowing for deeper thought and insight.  The total fee is $300 (plus tax).

Finding Focus sessions are a series of 6 hours of phone, Skype or face to face time that can be used in increments over a 6 month period. If you are in exploring mode this offers you: Accountability, through regular weekly email check-ins; Direction and focus, through activities and brainstorming; and an Ally in your corner to encourage and support your movement forward. The fee is a total of $1100 (plus tax).

Workshops

Workshop prices vary, and prices will be listed alongside the information on the Workshops page

Making payments and Insurance coverage

As a private practitioner, I request that fees are paid in full by the end of each session by cash or cheque.  A receipt will be provided. E-transfer and paypal are also payment options which I appreciate you paying prior to the session.

Psychotherapy is not covered by OHIP (in Ontario, Canada). Some insurance companies may cover part or all of the counselling fee, many do not.  You will have to check with your insurance company and provide them with my designation (Registered Psychotherapist and Canadian Certified Counsellor with an MEd, Counselling) and my Professional Associations (College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, and Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association).

I am a provider for a few Employment Assistance Programmes (EAPs) which may provide short-term, limited, free counselling for you, your partner or children.  If you do not know whether you have access to EAP, your HR department can let you know and provide you with the contact information for the EAP.  If they are listed, you can request to be referred to a particular counsellor.
